The twin bridges in Ulaanbaatar’s Yarmag District should become operational by November. These are the old bridge, which is, currently, undergoing major repairs and the construction of a brand new bridge.

The new bridge is being constructed next to the old Yarmag Bridge and will have a total span of 250.2 meters and a width of 20.5 meters. The twin bridges will have a total six lanes in total, two on the old bridge and four on the new.

The original deadline for the project had been 31 January, 2019 but following orders from the Ulaanbaatar administration, the contractor has speeded up work in order to open the old bridge by 11 July, before the National Naadam Festival.

The Yarmag Bridge is the largest northwest entry point to Ulaanbaatar. It is particularly important because it is also the main link to the New Ulaanbaatar International Airport, due to open in November. The original bridge over the River Tuul, which flows through the capital, was commissioned in the early 1960s.
