Earlier today a press conference was held by the Mongolian Education and Science Workers Union in which a salary increase for teachers was demanded.
Union director J.Batzorig said, ‘the monthly salary of civil servants has not been increased since 2014. During this period, inflation has risen by over 30 percent. According to a survey conducted by the World Bank and National Statistics Office, the national poverty level has reached 29.6 percent. In this situation, the government needs to increase teachers’ salaries’.
The union has submitted its demands to the government. ‘If our demands were not meet by 30 April, the teachers will strike’, said J.Batzorig.
