Around the world, many street crimes are committed in places without streetlights. Mongolia is no exception – in the administrative center of Baruun-Urt soum in Sukhbaatar province, there is street known locally as the ‘Monster’s Mouth’ where alcoholics and dangerous people congregate. Children and woman are afraid to walk through the street when it is dark.

The Sukhbaatar provincial administration is planning to establish Nightlight Street in that location for preventing crimes. It is anticipated that bright streetlights will make the place safe for all. The project has been initiated by the Mongolian Police Women Union.
