Binali Yildirim, the Prime Minister of Turkey is making an official visit to Mongolia from 6-8 April, at the invitation of his counterpart U.Khurelsukh. Earlier today, Mongolian President Kh.Battulga officially received Turkish PM at the State Palace.

During the meeting, President Kh.Battulga noted that the visit is very important for relations between Mongolia and Turkey. Mr.Battulga proposed to the Turkish PM to cooperate on developing the Orkhon Valley for tourism. The valley has already been inscribed as a UNESCO heritage site and is extremely important not just to Mongolia, but also Turkey, because this was the cradle of early Turkic civilisation; the earliest inscription in early Turkish, on the so-called Orkhon stone, is a real magnet for Turkish tourists. Apart from tourism, the two sides agreed to cooperate in agriculture and infrastructure.  However, the two prime ministers were dissatisfied that the volume of trade between Mongolia and Turkey is currently only USD 30 million.
