The Mongolian Government provides an allowance of MNT 20,000 per month to all children up to and including the age of 17. However, due to continuing budget pressure, the country’s lawmakers have decided to cut the allowance to high income families. Currently, 60 percent of all children whose families have been classified as low-income will still receive the allowance.

On 4 April, Cabinet approved providing the monthly allowance to over 200,000 children. According to this decision, 80 percent or 860,000 children will receive the monthly allowance from 1 April.
