Two Kazakh singers, Madina Saduaqasova and Ushkin Jamalbekov will perform at a concert at UB Palace today (16 March) ahead of the Nauryz celebration. Mongolian singer P.Bayartsengel will also perform the well-known Kazakh song named ‘Бол жанымда’, or ‘stay with me’, in Mongolian.

Nauryz is an annual spring festival celebrated by Kazakhs, Uzbeks, Azeris and other muslim peoples. It is also a New Year celebration for Mongolia’s Kazakh majority who live in Bayan Ulgii province in the far west of the country. This holiday is celebrated on 21-22 March, the day of the spring equinox, which is why Kazakhs call the month of March Nauryz.
