B.Battsetseg, Deputy Foreign Minister of Mongolia has made a speech at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. He was one of nearly 100 ministers and dignitaries to participate at the start the main session of 37th regular meeting of the Office of the United Nations’ High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), which was held on 28 February.
B.Battsetseg introduced the Mongolian government’s policies and actions on defending human rights at the meeting. For example, Mongolia abolished capital punishment under the Law on Criminal Offences which was amended in 2017. Furthermore, Mongolia has approved the Law to Combat Domestic Violence as well as amended the Elderly Persons Social Welfare Law, the Social Welfare Law for Single Parents, the Offence Law and the Law Supporting Youth Development.
