Since sending two military observers in 2002, Mongolia has been being a significant contributor to UN peacekeeping missions as well as contributing to non-UN operations. Recently, Mongolian police officers have joined the UN peacekeeping missions. The first was D.Enkhjargal, a lieutenant colonel from the Law Enforcement University of Mongolia participating in the UN peacekeeping missions and serving in the UN–African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID).
D.Enkhjargal comes from a military family: her father was the first Mongolian navigator to graduate in Russia and her mother has been worked in Defence University for 35 years. D.Enkhjargal’s brothers are military officers and her son is currently studying in the Russian Federal Military Engineering Academy.
