Five Mongolian mountaineers led by State Merited Athlete G.Usukhbayar have left Ulaanbaatar to climb Aconcagua (6960 meters) in Argentina, the highest peak in South America.
This climb is in preparation for climbing K2, the second highest mountain in the world, after Mount Everest. At 8,611 meters above sea level, K2 is considered the most dangerous in the world.
Last year, mountaineer G.Usukhbayar tried to climb K2. However, he had to stop his ascent at 6,450 meters due to bad weather and problems with his guide.
