Mongolia will expand its two main border crossings this year. The Zamyn Uud road and rail border crossing in Dornogobi will be developed by free grant funding from China, whilst the Altanbulag border crossing in Selenge at the northern end of the main transit corridor will be developed with a ADB soft loan.
The Altanbulag border crossing will be expanded to eight roads of three lanes entering and 15 roads of four lanes exiting. The Zamyn Uud border crossing will be extended to have a capacity of 2700 passengers, 500 cars and 35 trucks an hour.
