B.Bat-Erdene, the Minister of Defence of Mongolia has just completed a working visit to the Russian Federation at the invitation of his Russian counterpart, Sergey Shoigu. During the visit, he has participated in the sixth Moscow Conference on International Security.

B.Bat-Erdene expressed his appreciated the support Russia has given in arming, training and strengthening Mongolia's armed forces. He also thanked Minister Shoigu for extending the bi-lateral military aid agreement and continuing to receive Mongolian students to train at Russian Military Schools.

Defence Minister Shoigu noted the importance of continued cooperation between Mongolia and Russia and accepted an invitation from his Mongolian counterpart to visit Mongolia at his convenience.

Sergey Shoigu, has always had close links with Mongolia. Born, just across the border in Tuva in 1955 he has visited Mongolia on numerous occasions. He is Russia's longest standing minister, initially as Minister of Emergency Situations from 1991 to 2012 and then as Minister of Defence. Russia's only high-ranking Tuvan, Sergey Shoigu holds the rank of General of the Army.
