An International Throat Singers Union was set up at the Mongolian
Throat Song Festival held in London on July 19 and 20. The Mongolian Embassy
organized the festival to spread awareness of the country’s cultural heritage.

D.Tserendavaa read a paper on the
throat song and its history and illustrated the six different types of throat
song. A University of Cambridge scholar, Carol Pegg, spoke on the research on
folk song made by British and Mongolian scholars.

Tserendavaa was named President
of the union and a French researcher on throat song Tran Juan Hai was appointed
secretary.
