His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama arrived in Ulaanbaatar earlier today (18th of November). Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, the Dalai Lama, landed at Chinggis Khaan airport at 4 p.m. High ranking monk D.Choijamts of the Gandantegchilen Monastry and other officials welcomed the Dalai Lama at the airport's VIP terminal. This is the Tibetan Buddhist leader's ninth visit to Mongolia, a predominantly Buddhist country, since 1979. His visit will be last until Wednesday (23th of November).
(Mongolian National Broadcaster) MNB have received permission to report on the Dalai Lama’s visit.
During his visit, the Dalai Lama will give a religious lecture to worshippers at the weekend. He will also participate in an international forum entitled ‘Science and Lessons from Buddhism’ in Ulaanbaatar. In addition, the Dalai Lama will be awarded an honourary doctorate from the Mongolian State University of Life Sciences.
The Dalai Lama`s office in Dharamsala, India, where he lives in exile, maintained on Tuesday that his visit to Mongolia was purely religious.
