The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science has shut down 8 universities and institutes for failure to meet requirements. A check on them and others had been ordered by Minister Yo. Otgonbayar. 

Khan-Uul Institute, Colleges of Arkhangai, New Darkhan, Khovd-Erdem, Kharkhorum and Mon-Fresh-Munkh-Anu have had their licenses canceled, and Ulaanbaatar-Erdem Sudlal, Margad, Euro-Asia and Linguist Institutes have been asked to close down some faculties.
Among those which have survived the inspection are Chinggis Khaan Institute, International Study Institute, Gurvan-Erdene Institute, Filial of University of East Kazakhstan in Bayan-Ulgii aimag, College of Literature and Social Workers, Colleges Gegee, Dalai van and Gurvan Tamir.
