Three Mongolian cities have joined the "Making Cities Resilient" campaign of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR). A total of 3368 cities around the world have united in the campaign. Darkhan, Erdenet and the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar, have joined the project which is dedicated to helping cities around the world. It is anticipated that the annual meeting of International Disaster Risk Reduction will be held in Mongolia.

The 13^th of October is UN-initiated 'World Disaster Risk Reduction Day'.
