As a part of the national “Healthy Liver” program, A.Tsogtsetseg, Minister of Health, met the Head of “Gilead Sciences” Asia-Pacific on Thursday (22^nd of September). At the meeting, “Gilead Sciences” agreed to lower the price of the 'Harvoni-a' Hepatitis C Drug to USD300 (MNT 700 thousand). The medicine, which is being imported from the United States,  was previously sold at USD400. The medicine, which has a price of USD 94,000 per course of treatment, has been discounted by 99% for Mongolia.

Mongolia has the highest rate of liver cancer in the world: the prevalence in Mongolian men is eight times higher and in women 16 times higher than the global average. Hepatitis B and C are the number two killers of Mongolian people, after heart and coronary diseases,” according to liver specialists.
