The transportation trial has already begun of the transit  route from the Chinese Port of Tianjin, via Ulaanbaatar to the Russian city of Ulan-Ude. An echelon of trucks are running through China today (17^th August). In total, 26 delegates from China, 15 from Russia as well as more than 10 from Mongolia gathered in the port of Tianjin to launch the trial. According to the transit transportation programme, the convoy of trucks will pass through the Mongolian border crossing of Zamiin-Uud on 20^th August. It now takes only 8 minutes to check a batch of goods at the border Mongolian crossing. As the trucks make their progress, the new venture is being celebrated – in UB a ceremony will be held outside the ‘Dunjingarav’ shopping mall on 21th of August 11:30 am.

Overall, 90% of freight transportation between Asia and Europe is by sea and takes a long time. The shortest one of the four overland transportation routes between East Asia and Europe  runs through Mongolia. Currently, freight deliveries from Asia to Europe by sea take 45 days and by rail 10 days. The new road transportation corridor is expected to take only 7 days.
