The Court of Sukhbaatar District yesterday said that no other party can use the name, symbol and flag of the MPRP, the earlier name of the MPP. The ruling came in response to an MPP complaint that its old name was being illegally used.

The court referred to a provision of the law on political parties that bars any use of the name, symbol and flag of a political party if its members decide to change the name of the party. The Constitutional Court had earlier declared this provision to be valid in law, but the Supreme Court had then allowed the group led by former President N. Enkhbayar to be registered as the MPRP.
