Mongolia is marking the 55th anniversary of joining the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). To celebrate the event, a new book named ‘UNESCO and Mongolia’ is to be presented and a photo exhibition entitled ‘Mongolia’s Cultural Heritage for the World’ is taking place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 31 October.
Almost thirty items of Mongolian culture have been registered in UNESCO’s Cultural Heritage List; the exhibition is displaying some of them. The opening of the event was attended by senior diplomats, political and public figures, scientists and specialists, who have been connected with the 55-year history of Mongolian cooperation with UNESCO.
Mongolia joined UNESCO on 1 November, 1962, becoming the 108th member.
