Mongolia assumed the Presidency of the Community
of Democracies on July 1 as Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius
Ažubalis
presented the CoD flag to President Ts. Elbegdorj at its
Ministerial Conference. The Minister said that during its two-year Presidency,
Lithuania had done its best to ensure that the goals of the organization were
successfully pursued.

Elbegdorj later called on Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite and Prime
Minister Andrius Kubilius to exchange opinions on how CoD could be
strengthened. He also sought Lithuania’s support in the European Parliament for
Mongolia’s proposal to sign an agreement of partnership and collaboration with
the European Union. He also proposed cooperation between Mongolia and Lithuania
in transportation and trade.

Elbegdorj invited both to visit Mongolia.
