The MPP and the DP
groups in Parliament yesterday held a joint meeting to discuss their
disagreements over provisions of a draft law on the election system. The Chief
of the MPP group, D.Lundeejantsan, said after the meeting that it was just an
exploratory exchange of opinions. However, the meeting did reach agreement on
three of the six issues under contention.
He did not agree with media comments that the MPP is going back on its pledges
of reform. The party wants reforms to come in stages and felt that as of now
the people favored direct election of MPs.
