The Civil Chamber of
the President will organize an open discussion on judicial reform tomorrow.
Senior Advisor of the President P.Tsagaan yesterday told journalists a
six-point draft of a reform agenda will be presented at the meeting. It has
been prepared by a working group established by President Ts.Elbegdorj that included
representatives of courts, prosecutors, police, law schools, international
organizations and advocates. Its brief was to recommend measures to reform the
structure of courts, ensure judicial independence and set up a mechanism to
resolve internal problems and disputes. Its six recommendations cover the structure and administration of courts, the
respective jurisdiction of judges and lawyers, and a mediatory mechanism.
Tsagaan stressed that proper implementation of policies on issues like human
rights is possible only with active citizen’s participation and appealed to the
public to take part in tomorrow’s discussion.
