Ecopreneur-2011, an international
contest, ended on Thursday after choosing eight winners from 20 competing
teams, both Mongolian and foreign. The contest was jointly organized by the Mongolian
National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the International Union of Ecopreneurs
and TIC Americans.

 Among the winners is Yaeketek, which processes
yak wool to be used as a fabric. It has been chosen for its use of clean
technology and will receive financial help. Yak wool has qualities similar to
those of cashmere and the team intends to find a global export market for its
produce.

Another winner is Four Season, in
the “social responsibility” category. This team has planted fresh grass in 10
hectares in Sumber soum of Tuv aimag as part of its conservation program. It
intends to show to foreign tourists the traditional Mongol way of and plans to
transfer its work to local citizens after three years.
