Committee on Justice yesterday discussed a draft law on auto insurance after
its working group had suggested several amendments to it. The group rejects the
idea of drivers being responsible for paying the insurance as also to collect
the payment following an accident. Instead, it wants owners of vehicles to pay for
the insurance and be the beneficiary.
The group felt the originally suggested structure could not be implemented in
Mongolia because here 700,000 citizens have a driving license while there are
250,000 cars. It suggests an annual flat rate of MNT76,000 for vehicle
insurance.
