Under the amended law, mothers
with six or more children are now awarded Honored Mother Medal I, and those
with four or five children Honored Mother Medal II. Former MP B.Munkhtuya, who
initiated the draft law, greeted all honored mothers on May 31, observed as
Mothers’ Day.

Approximately 500 women join the
first category every year while 1,500 fall in the second. The state budget
allocates MNT1.2 billion for the medals.
