Parliament yesterday approved the appointment of three members to the Constitutional Court, taking its strength to eight, with only one vacancy. The three are N.Jantsan and D.Naranchimeg, nominated by President Ts.Elbegdorj, and J.Amarsanaa, nominated by the Supreme Court.
R.Rash asked the Chief of the Standing Committee on Justice, D.Odbayar, why the name of M.Altankhuyag, former Prosecutor-General, had not been considered after Speaker D.Demberel had suggested it. Odbayar explained the Standing Committee on State Structure was responsible for reviewing nominations. The Chief of that committee, J.Sukhbaatar, then said that Altankhuyag’s name has not been forwarded to them.
The Speaker finally asked the committees to decide on the ninth member and to submit the name to Parliament without delay.
