The MPRP group in Parliament on Monday decided to support the Government’s proposal to raise salaries and pensions in two stages,  on July 1 and on October 1 this year, its head, D.Lundeejantsan, told media. The MPs also discussed various ways in which the MNT1.5 million from the Human Development Fund could be distributed. The money that will be distributed in cash will be given in installments, so that there is no fear of inflation.

A survey has put at 400,000 the number of citizens who do not have health insurance. The money for them can pay for their premium. Similar payments can be paid for school tuitions in 2011 and 2012, and for apartments. The money could also be used to repay herders’ bank loans, or at least the accumulated interest on them. It can also contribute the capital to citizens’ cooperative business ventures. The MPs discussed these and other options. The next issue was increasing the minimum wage.

Lundeejantsan said the group did not manage to discuss the issue of the demand of the protesting hunger strikers for dissolution of Parliament. The party has repeatedly said that their general demands are being considered and has asked them to call off the strike. MPs are ready to sit down with representatives of the civil movements to talk about certain subjects. He said Parliament’s term is for four years and it is difficult to concede the demand for a referendum.
