Chief of the DP group in Parliament Ch.Saikhanbileg yesterday answered
questions of journalists about its meeting and the decisions taken
there.

What does the group think about border points?
There are 26 border points and the Government wants to apply the same working conditions and financial management to all of them, so that there is better coordination with other sectors. MPs wanted to study the actual working conditions there, to help the Minister for Justice and Internal Affairs, Ts.Nyamdorj, enforce the improvements he desires. The border points in the north demand special study.

Did the group discuss the issue of appointment of some officials?
There were two such issues under discussion. The first was that of a member of the Financial Regulatory Authority and the second of chiefs of sub councils of Parliament. The group decided to establish a working group to study the wider ramifications of the matters and to take a decision only after receiving its report, maybe at a special meeting.

What is the position of the DP group on the draft law on election that has raised a controversy in the Standing Committee on State Structure.?
Our position is clear that the system of election has to be decided with an eye solely on the country’s development. Our members favor a primarily proportional system with some of the present system retained. A working group of Parliament is at work on formulating a combined system and we hope its suggestions are acceptable to all.

What about evaluating the Government’s implementation of its program?
This is on our agenda for the next meeting, after a working group submits its report.

Is it true that some of your members want certain ministers to be dismissed because of poor performance?
I cannot answer the question before the DP group discusses the matter.
