President Ts.Elbegdorj yesterday received a parliamentary delegation from Kirgizstan headed by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Bakit Torobaev. Kirgizstan passed its new Constitution in 2010 and chose parliamentary democracy. Its President, Mrs. R.Otunbaeva, requested President Ts.Elbegdorj for help in developing democratic principles in her country and accordingly Elbegdorj talked with George Soros during the Davos Economic Forum to open an Open Society Institute in Bishkek, like the one in Ulaanbaatar.

Torobaev opened the meeting by saying that Kirgizstan wants to renew relations with Mongolia that were disrupted with the fall of the Soviet Union and suggested regular exchange of high level visits.

Elbegdorj asked the visitors to feel free to ask any question on democracy. They did so,
seeking information about the drawbacks and advantages, achievement and mistakes of parliamentary governance, how the economy runs in a democracy, judicial reforms and appointment of the judge general and the prosecutor general, management of local administration, anti-corruption mechanism, financing of political parties, etc.
