Herders’ indebtedness has reached MNT60 billion. The Government is expected to announce measures that will protect their assets, given as collateral to the bank loans, from being seized. It has already met officials of the central bank on the issue. Special projects are likely to be announced to help herders earn some money. Livestock indexed loan are also likely to be issued.

The General Emergency Authority has revealed that a total of 6.2 million heads of livestock have so far died in the dzud. Some 6,400 families have lost all their animals.
