Leaders of the civil movement Motherland, Independence and Fairness today submitted a memorandum to managing officials of the Mongolian National Public Television Broadcasting Channel demanding an apology for a broadcast on March 7 and 9 that, the movement feels, libels the National New Party Secretary-General, G.Uyanga, and her husband A.Baatarkhuyag, who is a journalist.
Last week, the movement protested about the program to the Director of the MNPTB, M.Naranbaatar, saying it violated the Constitution and the Law on Public Radio and Television and demanding a public apology to the couple. MNPTB denied there had been any misrepresentation of facts or libel, and rejected the imputation that the program had been broadcast at the behest of someone in authority. This did not satisfy the civil movement, with which both Uyanga and her husband are associated, and it decided to submit an official memorandum of demand.
