The newly-formed Mongolian Government presented a draft of the 2018 State Budget  to parliament on Friday (27 October). According to the draft, the ruling Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) will fulfill its election promises of distributing cash totaling MNT 164,2 billion to 648 thousand children and to provide a monthly salary to mothers who are at home caring for  children under the age of three, as well as paying the one-off bonus to civil servants.

In the 2018 State Budget, revenue is expected to make MNT 7.2 billion and expenditure – MNT 9.6 billion leaving a deficit of MNT 2.4 billion or 8 percent of GDP. The government is expected to reduce the deficit by 1.5 percent from 2017.
