The Winter Horse Festival will be held in the Batnorov Soum (county) of Khentii Province on 4-5 November. The event aims to promote Mongolia’s horse culture, the skills of Mongolian horsemen, and develop winter tourism.
This year, the festival is expected to gather 2,000 horses in one place. Also, it will be the first time the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region of China will be represented; five horsemen are participating.
Located in the north-east of Mongolia, Khentii Province is famed for being the birth place of Chinggis Khaan; it is also the place where the great emperor is buried.
