The Mongolian government will be providing a one-time payment of MNT 300,000 to civil servants, said new Finance Minister Ch.Khurelbaatar. This will cover a total of 192,000 civil servants.
Thousands of Mongolian teachers and doctors have united in their demand for a salary increase. However, Mr Ch.Khurelbaatar explained that it will be necessary to discuss future salary increases with the International Monetary Fund. In this complex situation, the minister has proposed a ‘one-off’ MNT 300 thousand (USD 122) bonus for the teachers and doctors instead of increasing their monthly salary. The bonus payment will cost the government MNT 4 billion.
