The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam is one of the five Grand Slams on the IJF World Judo Tour and is the premier judo event in the region. Abu Dhabi has become an important event on the calendar and will, for some heavyweight athletes, be a preparation for the Open Weight World Championships in Marakech next month. A total of 290 judokas from 48 countries across five continents are participating in the competition.
Eight Mongolian judokas are competing, including Olympic silver medalist D.Sumiya, world champion G.Boldbaatar, and international master of sports G.Odbayar.
