Khuvsgul provincial section of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has organised diving training in the waters of Mongolia’s deepest lake. During three days training, the ‘life-savers’ dived to up to  a depth of 15 meters depth in Lake Khuvsgul.

Khuvsgul is the largest fresh water lake in Mongolia by volume and second largest by area. The lake is located in the northwest of Mongolia near the Russian border, at the foot of the eastern Sayan Mountains. Lake Khuvsgul is an increasingly popular tourist destination – sadly, because many Mongolians cannot swim, death by drowning is quite common.
