Mongolian President Kh.Battulga shared his intention to put forward a proposal on jointly implementing a project on leather and hide processing industry with Turkish Ambassador Ahmet Yazal. The two met earlier today (21st of September) at Mongolia’s State House. Ambassador Ahmet Yazal promised to convey this initiative to the President of Turkey.

Another area of possible co-operation is tourism. Situated in Mongolia’s beautiful Orkhon Valley are archaeological remains, dating back to the early Turkic Empire period, before the time of Chinggis Khaan.  Of particular importance is the  Monument to Tonyukuk (CE c.646-c.726), which is written in ancient Turcic runes. Because the Orkhon Valley is the historic home of their ancestors, the number of visitors from Turkey to Mongolia can be increased, suggested President Battulga.

Noting that he is in agreement, the Ambassador also highlighted that increasing the frequency of Turkish Airlines flights between two countries can become an impetus to activating the tourism ties. It has been reported that a consultation on this matter will take place at the Mongolian Ministry of Road and Transport Development at the end of September.
