With only a few days remaining until the new academic year begins,  Mongolian teachers have threatened to go on strike. Earlier today, 30th August, school teachers demonstrated on Ulaanbaatar’s central Sukhbaatar square with slogans such as ‘Demanding salary increase’, ‘We have the power’. According to the organisers, a total of 10 thousand teachers united in the demonstration. So far, 36 thousand teachers have signed the petition demanding a a salary increase for the profession.

Unless their demands are met, teachers will go on strike from 15th of September.
