M.Tumenbayar, a taekwondo athlete with the national team of Mongolia and the “Aldar” sports club, has qualified to compete in the Grand Prix tournament that will take place on 22nd-24th September in Rabat, Morocco.
He became the very first Mongolian to achieve this success after taking fifth place in the 2017 World Taekwondo Championships in Muju, South Korea, lifting his rating to 28th in the men’s 58 kg category.
Following the World Championships, he also claimed a gold medal in the Korea Open tournament.
In accordance with the rules of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), the first 32 athletes by the world rankings in each division qualify for the Grand Prix. Moreover, the first six athletes are directly awarded with Olympic qualification status.
