The Central Bank of Mongolia has minted a special silver coin of the Mazaalai, or Gobi Bear which is an endemic Mongolian species and is on the verge of extinction. This is one of many attempts for attracting social attention to protecting the Mazaalai. The  pure silver coin is 38.61 mm. in diameter and is worth MNT 300 thousand. 

The Mazaalai lives only in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia. Researchers at the “National Pride – Mazaalai” NGO said – there are no more than 30 Mazaalai bears left in the Mongolian Gobi.
