Five Mongolian doctors from the National Trauma Orthopedic Research Center (NTORC) were seriously injured in a car crash in Uvurkhangai province on 2nd of July. Two remain in a critical condition. The accident occurred when a Toyota Prius collided with bus 10 km from the famous sand dunes. At the time, the doctors were returning to Ulaanbaatar.
Officials from the NTORC explained that the doctors were working in the province under the national ‘Healthy Liver’ programme. However, some unofficial sources have reported that the five were participating in the election campaign under orders of the director of the NTORC.
