Renovation of the 205 km road between Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia, and Darkhan commenced on 21st of June. The road will be renovated with four-lanes and a concrete surface in accordance with international standards. Construction work is expected to be completed in 2018.
Built in 1970-1980, the Ulaanbaatar – Darkhan road and passes through major industrial towns, agricultural regions and tourist camps. Nearly 3800 cars use the road daily; the original projected capacity was 600 cars a day!
