A sudden surge in cases of H7N9 bird flu in China is causing great concern in neighbouring Mongolia. The Ministry of Health has issued a  warning about H7N9, as the deadly strain of the disease spreads into the immediate border area . The bird flu has already infected humans in China just south of the Mongolian Gantsmod border crossing in the Gurbantes soum (district) of the Umnugobi Province. 

Between September and March 1st, H7N9 bird flu killed 162 people in China. This is more that in any single season since the strain was first  discovered in humans four years ago.
