The ‘Ulaanbaatar Marathon’, which is an annual international competition, took place on 20th of May, coinciding with ‘Car-free Day’. More than 36 thousand people including runners from Japan, Kenya and South Korea participated in the competition. International participators competed in the 5 km, 10km, 21 km and 42 km categories.

The opening ceremony of the marathon was held on the capital’s Sukhbaatar square at 9.30 a.m. and marathon began at 10.00 a.m.
