Mongolia embraced its three millionth citizen on January 24th, 2015 when a baby girl was born in South Gobi Province. Named Mongoljin, she was born 27 years the country registered its two millionth citizen. Mongoljin, Mongolia’s three millionth citizen, is now two years old and has already become a big sister. Her younger brother is now six months old. She lives with her parents in Dalanzadgad Soum in the South Gobi Aimag (province). When we visited her family, Mongoljin had gone to stay with her uncle R.Ganbaatar who lives in Mandal-Ovoo Soum, some 90 km from Dalanzadgad. Herder Ganbaatar has more than 700 livestock and Mongoljin enjoys her time with the young animals. Mongoljin can sing songs, recite poems and count numbers 1-10 by heart.
The name Mongoljin, meaning Mongolian girl, was given by Ts.Elbegdorj, President of Mongolia at the request of her parents.
