Members of the MPP group in Parliament have approved the
nomination of M.Altankuyag, a former Chairman of the State Prosecutor General’s
Office, as the next Chief of the Constitutional Court. Members felt Altankhuyag
was suitable in all respects for the new position.

The issue now goes to the Standing Committee on State
Structure. If it is approved there, the next step will be a discussion in the
Standing Committee on Justice. The final ratification will be done by Parliament.
