The Civil Will Party’s recent decision to form an
alliance with the Green Party, despite reservations from some members and
Secretary-General M.Zorigt, has had repercussions on other political parties.
Civil Movement Party members feeling let down by their leaders J.Batzandan,
O.Magnai and M.Ichinnorov have shown interest to join the CWP-GP alliance, and
Republican Party leader L.Tsog has met with S.Oyun and suggested cooperation
and alliance. S.Oyun has not reacted publicly to the proposals, but Tsog has said
in a TV interview that his party will renew its old alliance with the CWP.
S.Oyun has already said CWP can form a strategic partnership with the
DP to protect democracy. While the CWP
and the GP have agreed to contest the election together, any ties with the DP will
be short of a formal alliance, and will be based on an electoral understanding.
