Victory
Square in front of Tengis Cinema has got a new look and a new name.  The Civil Representatives Assembly has changed
its name to Independence Square, as suggested by Mayor G.Munkhbayar.

The square is where soldiers led by General D.Sukhbaatar were joined by Soviet
Red Army troops. The combined forces moved from the front of the present
Chandmani Center  to what is now
Sukhbaatar Square on July 6, 1921. The square was a center for the movement for
democracy 20 years ago, and hence Independence Square is an apt nasme.
