The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry has
announced a contest among soums to promote an increase in both the number and productivity
of Mongolian camels.  Two soums will be
chosen for an award after the number of camels in the last two years is checked
to see how it has grown. Of this number, 35% have to be female and the number
of calves per 100 female camels should be more than the national average
number. The six best camel herders should have lost no camel, and should be
able to account for a calf for each adult female. The productivity should also be
above the average. All soums and camel herders are to send their details by
November 20 to the Ministry.
