classify and regulate the Mongolian genetic reserve.
Eight reports were presented on various aspects of unique Mongolian products like
food, drugs, bio preparations, and cosmetics that use material endemic here. Mongolia
is only 1% of the land in the world and there has not been any study on its
genetic reserve.
Its economic significance has to be ascertained and protected. Care should be
taken that individuals and organizations do not transfer any part of it abroad
without authority, particularly under the guise of research. The Government has
to be proactive. Preliminary work on drafting a law to enforce compliance with international
standards has begun with help from the World Bank. Proper patents can also earn
money for the country from those who wish to exploit Mongolia’s genetic reserve.
